Profession Life Knowledge, the Key to Success

    Al-Jumuah Magazine

The adage that ignorance is bliss could not be farther from the truth when seriously put into practical application. Throughout the annals of time, what great accomplishments has ignorance made? What great empires and what marvels of science and technology now bear witness to ignorance's strength and power? That's right, none. Nothing of true worth is achieved without wisdom and knowledge.

It was with supreme knowledge that Allah, subhanahu wa tala, laid the foundations of the heavens and the earth. It was with wisdom, knowledge and understanding that Soleiman, alayhe assalaam, ruled the greatest empire the world has ever known. Our own Prophet, Mohammad, sallallaahu alayhe wa sallam, told us that acquiring knowledge was a duty placed on each and every Muslim. But the knowledge of what and who, remains the question.

Discover Islam An Interview with Umm Saalih, A Grandmother Who Completed Memorizing the Qur'an
Posted by administrator on Saturday, May 10 @ 18:24:03 AST (104 reads)

As Read by Dr. Saleh as Saleh

Al-Hamdulillaah (All-Praise is due to Allah), the One Who said (what means): "And in truth We have made the Qur'aan easy to remember; but is there any that remembers?" Surah 54: 32

Many all over the world memorize the Qur'aan, and it is not strange to see the youth memorizing the Noble Qur'aan and an early age. Al-Hamdulillaah, the One who made the Qur'aan easy for remembrance, had made it easy for Umm Saalih age 82. In an interview with Umm Saalih, she was asked the following questions:

Q1: "What was the reason that drove you to memorize the Qur'aan after so many years?"

She said, "I always hoped to memorize the Qur'aan from the time I was young. My father always used to invoke Allaah for me to become one of the memorizers of the Qur'aan, like himself and like the elder brothers of my family who memorized it. So I memorized in the beginning about three parts and then after I completed the age of thirteen, I got married and became busy with the household and the children. After I had seven children, my husband died. They (the children) were all young so I took the time to raise them and educate them, and then after they grew up and got married, I had more time for myself. Therefore, the first thing I directed myself to focus upon was the Qur'aan.

Discover Islam Advice for Memorizing the Qur’ân
Posted by administrator on Wednesday, May 07 @ 18:23:50 AST (155 reads)

    | Sheikh `Abd al-Hakîm al-Qâsim, Professor at the Riyadh Teachers College|

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The best among you are those who learn the Qur’ân and teach it to others.” [Sahîh al-Bukhârî: (5027)]

Committing the Qur’ân to memory is a blessed and noble activity, and many Muslims dream of carrying the Qur’ân in their heart. It is a great task, and one that takes a lot of effort. Still, it is a goal that can be reached.

Discover Islam The Significance of Obedience to Parents
Posted by administrator on Wednesday, April 30 @ 23:34:31 AST (156 reads)

Islam builds a family in which prevails mutual respect and care. Parents and children in Islam are bound together by mutual obligations and reciprocal arrangements. Allaah Says (what means): “…No mother should be harmed through her child, and no father through his child…” [Quran 2: 233]

The Quran has made it compulsory for the child to treat his parents with all goodness and mercy.

Every Muslim must show goodness and mercy to his parents throughout their lives. There is only one exception to this, and that is, if the parents ask their children to associate anything with Allaah and to commit sins, then the children must not obey their parents. In all cases, the children must show love and gratitude to their parents. They must always speak to them gently and respectfully. They must try their best to make them happy, provided they do not disobey Allaah in the process.

Allaah says (what means): “But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with me others of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not; but behave with them in the world kindly…” [Quran 31:15]
