My Way to Islam Halimah bint David's Journey to Islam

Anonymous writes "Bismillah (In The Name of Allaah)

Do you wonder why anyone would choose Islam as their religion? Would you like to know how I found Islam? Are you wondering who I am? Curious to know what my background is?
    `
My father raised me on his own and as a Christian. He worked hard to teach me Christian values. I read the Bible a lot when I was in elementary school (I skipped the words I did not know) and noticed there were some contradictions (i.e. eating pork, Jesus’s peace be upon him supposed death) and a lot of gross stories of incest.
When I was Twelve I knew I did not really believe in Christianity anymore, but I did not know what to think. I continued searching out God and praying to Him for the truth. I sought God a lot and very hard. I had a lot of questions on my mind:
“Everybody, at some time or another, asks themselves the question: “Why do I exist?” or “For what purpose am I here on earth?” "

My Way to Islam My Muslim Husband
Posted by administrator on Sunday, November 09 @ 17:09:36 AST (3934 reads)

    By Sumayyah Meehan

It’s been 12 years since I married my Muslim husband and the road has truly been long and winding, but happy. At the time we got married I was Catholic and had no intention of converting to Islam.

My new husband was very understanding and only asked that I at least try to read an English translation of the Quran from time to time. I agreed. We soon moved to Kuwait as the U.S. economy was so weak at that time and it was impossible to earn a good living.

The minute I stepped off the plane I was thrust into a whole new world that was full of Islam, Muslims, cultural traditions and a whole new way of thinking. To say that I was shaken to my very core, in blind terror, is an understatement. All I wanted to do was to jump right back on that plane and fly away from this strange new World.

My Way to Islam Experiences of a Recently Converted Hindu Woman
Posted by administrator on Friday, July 18 @ 12:00:00 AST (2746 reads)

    by Sister Nûr

This article was written by the author a few years ago, when she was in her second year at the University of Essex

I came from a purely Hindu family where we were always taught to regard ourselves (i.e. women) as beings who were eventually to be married off and have children and serve the husband-- whether he was kind or not. Other than this I found that there were a lot of things which really oppressed women, such as:

  • If a woman was widowed, she would always have to wear a white sari (costume), eat vegetarian meals, cut her hair short, and never re-marry.

  • The bride always had to pay the dowry (bridal money) to the husband's family.

  • And the husband could ask for anything, irrespective of whether the bride would have difficulty giving it.

Not only that, if after marriage she was not able to pay the full dowry she would be both emotionally and physically tortured, and could end up being a victim of "kitchen death" where the husband, or both the mother-in-law and the husband try to set fire to the wife while she is cooking or is in the kitchen, and try to make it look like an accidental death. More and more of these instances are taking place. The daughter of a friend of my own father's had the same fate last year!

Anonymous writes "Born and raised in New York City to Dominican parents who are catholic by mouth and not actions. In other words my parents say they are catholic but hardly ever went to church. The only catholic religious right that was given to me as a child by my parent was baptism. I did my 1st communion and conformation on my own. As a child I always had an innate awareness of God, later on in life found out this is called the “Fitrah”. Fitrah is something that every soul is born with; it is the natural predisposition in which one is inclined towards submission to Allah."

My Way to Islam Dame Stjernelys
Posted by Administrator on Tuesday, December 07 @ 23:05:01 AST (7844 reads)

Most of the non Muslims whom we have presented their stories and shared their journey of “finding the truth” were Christians, may be we have came across Hindus too however this time our interview is with a woman who have started as a catholic and then went through different strange religions that some of you may not even know that such religions are existing! Certainly Al hamdollah For Islam!

We interviewed Dame Stjernelys a 25 years old wife and mother of one child, living in Denmark, but originally from Poland who went through six religions trying to find and enjoy a peaceful soul:
